Cooking Tips
Roperti turkeys cook faster than regular processed turkeys because they contain no preservatives or chemicals. Here’s a simple recipe to cook a Roperti turkey:
-
Rub the turkey with olive oil and season inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic, and herbs.
-
Instead of traditional stuffing, you can try stuffing the turkey with apples, oranges, celery, or onions for a fresh twist.
-
Add one cup of water to the roaster and cover it with the lid or tightly sealed aluminum foil.
-
Start cooking at 400°F for one hour, then turn down the temperature to 350°F for the remaining time.
-
Remove the lid or aluminum foil 30 minutes before the turkey is done to brown it.
-
You can also cook the turkey at 325°F for about 1½ hours longer than the entire time.
Please note that these cooking times are suggestions and may vary depending on the size of your turkey. It’s always a good idea to use a meat thermometer to ensure your turkey is cooked to the proper internal temperature.

Get to Know Us
Roperti's Turkey Farm is celebrating its 75th year in Livonia.
Roperts, as it was known then, was started in 1948 when Italian immigrant Tomas Roperti raised just 50 turkeys in Livonia Township. He had the turkeys for friends and family, as American holiday traditions were very important to our family. Today, the five-acre farm is run by Tom Roperti’s daughter Christine and her two sons. They prepare around 4,000 Fresh Thanksgiving turkeys each year, and have become a tradition for many Michigan families.
